On June 22, 2019, “German Philosophy in China –German Philosophy: ‘Enlightenment and Rationality’ Academic Seminar & ‘2019 Annual Meeting of German Philosophy Professional Committee of Chinese Association of Modern Foreign Philosophy” was held in Guiyang Confucius Academy. It was sponsored by the German Philosophy Professional Committee of Chinese Association of Modern Foreign Philosophy, and undertaken by Guiyang Confucius Academy Cultural Communication Center and the School of Philosophy and Social Development of Guizhou University. More than 120 experts and scholars from 68 domestic universities and scientific research institutions, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Guizhou University, attended the conference and contributed 98 theses. The seminar includes opening and closing ceremony keynote speeches and group discussions.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Chen Yanbo, Vice President of the School of Philosophy and Social Development of Guizhou University. At the opening ceremony, Professor Li Jianjun, a leading talent in philosophy and social sciences of the national “Ten Thousand People Plan” and Secretary of the Party Committee of Guizhou University, Researcher Suo Xiaoxia, Director of the Cultural Communication Center of Guiyang Confucius Academy, and Mr. Zhang Rulun, Honorary Director of the Council of German Philosophy Professional Committee and Distinguished Professor of the School of Philosophy of Fudan University delivered speeches respectively.
After the opening ceremony, Professor Fu Yongjun from Shandong University, Professor Huang Yusheng from Tsinghua University, Professor Zhang Rong from Nanjing University and Professor Zhang Nengwei from Anhui University delivered keynote speeches respectively.
It is reported that during the two-day conference, the experts and scholars had a heated discussion on the two major themes –“Enlightenment” and “Rationality” in terms of German philosophy. This academic conference focuses on the core issues of German philosophy and its far-reaching influence on modern Chinese thoughts. It has brought together a large number of professional scholars from the German philosophy circle and relevant research fields in China. They will hold continuous, in-depth, detailed and enthusiastic academic discussions. The ideological achievements produced are of great significance to promote and realize the creative transformation and innovative development of our own traditional thoughts.
