On the afternoon of November 17, Singing Poems and Music on Xishan: Rising Stars in Folk Music - Chinese Youth National Chamber Orchestra Concert was held at the Yangming Lecture Hall of Guiyang Confucius Academy.
Organized by Chinese Music Promotion and Research Institute of Confucius Academy and the Affiliated High School of China Conservatory of Music, this event was a report-back performance tailored-made for Primary and Secondary Research and Practical Education Base of Confucius Academy. Shen Cheng, a well-known Huqin (a two-stringed bowed instrument) performer and President of Chinese Music Promotion and Research Institute of Confucius Academy, acted as the music guide to tell the story behind each piece of music.
Apart from some citizens, the audience was mainly students of primary and secondary schools in Guiyang. Over 600 primary and secondary students from Qingyan Middle School at Huaxi, Guiyang No. 9 Middle School, Guiyang No. 10 Middle School, Guiyang No. 12 Middle School and Children Recitation Class and Calligraphy Class of Confucius Academy, watched the performance. When interviewed by the media, some students said: “We were very excited and honored to hear the folk music played by the students of the Affiliated High School of China Conservatory of Music with different musical instruments. They presented an audio-visual feast with exquisite skills. It is the historical responsibility of our generation to inherit and carry forward China’s fine cultural traditions. Music is a wordless language, but it can spread the spirit and show the strength of Chinese people. We hope they can often visit Guiyang and bring us more wonderful music.”
