Xu Qi, Executive Chairman of the Academic Committee of Confucius Academy, was elected as Vice Chairman of the sixth council of ICA. This marked the second consecutive year that Guiyang Confucius Academy emerged as a top decision-maker of the ICA, and the only institution in Guizhou with scholars entering leadership of ICA.

In addition, the Congress reshuffled and admitted 361 council members from 83 countries and regions in the world. Zhang Xinmin, professor of the Chinese Culture Academy of Guizhou University, and Wang Daming, Secretary General of Guiyang Confucius Academy Foundation, were elected as a council member of ICA.

It is reported that, since the establishment of ICA in 1994, ICA Congress has been held every five years for five consecutive sessions. Due to its wide influence in the global ideological and cultural field, the association has become an important platform for the exchange and integration of Chinese culture and world culture. Over 800 representatives from more than 80 countries and regions attended the meeting, including members and council members of ICA, famous Confucianism experts and relevant academic and cultural groups concerning international Confucianism, as well as cultural, educational, and academic communities, making this session the largest one ever.
