2020 marks the 200th anniversary of the birthday of the great teacher of proletarian revolution Friedrich Engels(1820-1895)and the 150th anniversary of the birthday of Vladimir Lenin(1870-1924). From October 17 to 18, the seminar under the theme of “The Historical Development and Contemporary Construction of Chinese Marxist Philosophy” and 2020 Annual Meeting of China Society of History of Marxist Philosophy (CSHMP) was held at Guiyang Confucius Academy. More than 120 experts and scholars from universities, Party schools and research institutions across the country discussed the theme of the meeting.
Chen Jian, Vice Chairman of Guizhou Provincial Consultative Conference, Hao Lixin, CSHMP President, Honorary Dean of School of Philosophy and Social Development of Guizhou University and Professor of School of Philosophy of Renmin University of China, Wang Lisheng, Researcher and Party Secretary of Institute of Philosophy of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Xu Jing, Executive Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee, Luo Changjiang, Deputy Party Secretary of Guizhou University, and Suo Xiaoxia, Researcher and Director of Guiyang Confucius Academy delivered speeches at the opening ceremony presided over by Professor Yang Song, Vice President of Guizhou University.
During the two days, focusing on the historical process of Marxism in China, the theoretical connotation and practical significance of the road to socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the philosophical basis of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the participating experts and scholars analyzed the text and ideas of authors of Marxist classics, clarified the relationship between Sinicization of Marxist philosophy and the practice of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, explored effective ways to combine Marxist philosophy with traditional Chinese culture, and responded to the issue of times and realistic problems raised by changes in the world, so as to build a theoretical and discourse system for Chinese Marxist philosophy to step into the world stage and to contribute Chinese wisdom to global governance and the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind with stronger confidence in and consciousness of theory.
