On the afternoon of March 5, Anthem of Life: Exhibition of Female Pingpo Miao Painters in Guizhou, with Guiyang Confucius Academy as one of the organizers, successfully opened at the beautiful West Taihu Lake Art Museum in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. It is the second stop of Guiyang Confucius Academy after the itinerant exhibition at Shenzhen Art Museum in November 2020. On the occasion of the 111th International Women’s Day, female Pingpo Miao painters, as a group, walk out of the mountain areas of Guizhou Province to the whole country thanks to the “Four Activities” poverty alleviation and intelligence support program carried out by Guiyang Confucius Academy at Pingpo Village, Xima Town, Longli County in 2020, namely collecting 120 Pingpo Miao paintings, shooting a feature film, publishing an album, and holding a special exhibition of paintings. Through these activities, Guiyang Confucius Academy hopes that Pingpo painters can truly benefit from their culture and become proud and confident, thus attracting more people to appreciate and enjoy paintings of Miao ethnic group and achieving the constant inheritance of culture. The passion for life and unique visual symbols in Pingpo Miao paintings have won the attention and praise of people from all walks of life in Changzhou. Members of Guizhou Chamber of Commerce in Changzhou visited the exhibition from their hometown after hearing the news.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Anna, Director of West Taihu Lake Art Museum. Participating artists Lan Kaicui and Hou Minghui donated five paintings for the collection of West Taihu Lake Art Museum, and sang songs with characteristics of Miao ethnic group, allowing the audience to experience the scenes in their paintings and the artistic aspirations of those female painters who live deep in the mountains. Zhu Jiali, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Changzhou West Taihu Lake Science and Technology Industrial Park, presented them with certificates of collection.
After the opening of the exhibition, the reporter from Changzhou TV Station interviewed Suo Xiaoxia, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Cultural Communication Center of Guiyang Confucius Academy.
