One Hundred Meter Long Scroll of Miao Village for a Country Donated to Guiyang Confucius Academy as a Permanent Collection

  On July 7, a special donation ceremony was held at the Confucius Academy. The Longli County New Era Civilization Practice Center donated the One Hundred Meter Long Scroll of Miao Village for a Country drawn by Miao painters in Pingpo to the Confucius Academy as a permanent collection.

  Suo Xiaoxia, Director of the Cultural Communication Center of Guiyang Confucius Academy, Xiao Libin, Deputy Director of the Cultural Communication Center of Guiyang Confucius Academy, Yang Guili, Director of the Publicity Department of Longli County Committee of the Communist Party of China, Lan Yu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xima Town, Longli County, Xie Youtian, a representative of Confucius Academy resident experts, visiting professor of Sichuan University, and professor of Stanford University in the United States, and other relevant leaders, experts and scholars attended the ceremony.

  The One Hundred Meter Long Scroll of Miao Village for a Country is a 100-meter Miao painting drawn by Miao painters from Pingpo, Xima Town, Longli County to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. The work was completed in 2021, which consists of 10 chapters, depicting the development of the Miao people from the miserable years of the old society to a happy and well-off life in the new era under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. Its completion attracted the attention and reports of CCTV and other mainstream media, and gave the public a window into time-honored Miao art and the new life and new look of the Miao compatriots in Guizhou.

  At the One Hundred Meter Long Scroll of Miao Village for a Country donation ceremony, the Cultural Communication Center of Guiyang Confucius Academy and the Xima Town Government of Longli County signed the “Framework Cooperation Agreement for the Research Site of the Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture Seminar Base of Guiyang Confucius Academy”. The Agreement confirms that in the future, the two parties will further cooperate in various forms such as project research, academic consultation, public lectures, book publishing, inspection and research, and material collection and creation. It aims to give full play to and integrate the platform, cultural and academic resources of the Confucius Academy, serve the construction of local culture, drive the integration of culture and tourism, and promote rural revitalization.

  Suo Xiaoxia, Director of the Cultural Communication Center of Guiyang Confucius Academy, said that Chinese local folk culture is an integral part of China’s excellent traditional culture, and it is our bounden duty to promote local ethnic folk paintings at the Confucius Academy to carry forward the excellent traditional culture. The Miao painters and painting art in Pingpo are a living cultural group and tradition. It is hoped that through the promotion, support and protection of both parties, this “treasure” in the mountain villages of Guizhou will be brought to life to drive rural economic development, becoming a model of rural revitalization by promoting local, beautiful, and unique culture.
